How to Choose a Home Inspector

Since home inspection is not  regulated by government
agencies in the state of Hawaii, buyers should be aware of those who advertise themselves as inspectors.  Anyone can call him or herself a home inspector.  Some do it with only six week correspondence courses.  Their advertisements can appear right beside side those with years of experience and training.  How can you tell the difference?

Membership in national organizations is some indication;
however, there are some organizations that only require filling out a form and sending in money.  You can call the inspectors and ask for a resume or references.  The more carefully you check the inspector’s credentials, the more confidence you will have in your choice.
